I want to be a doctor

Sean brought Xiaoya to Sun school. After Sun school, while doing his homework, he suddenly tell me : "I want to be a doctor." By the way, since young, I have been telling him not to be a doc. In my opinion, to be a doc, one has to be really noble. It is a tough profession with long working hours. There are so many professions, why he has to choose one so tough?.. So selfish of his mommy right… ya ..I know I am….. Dr Chan just told me that a lot of doctors have left the profession… thus resulting in the lack of doctors…and the existing pool of doctors have to work even longer hours…

I was curious and asked him why he wants to be a doctor…. Guess what’s his reply???? He told me that Xiaoya wants to be a ‘Hu Shi” (nurse), so to be in the same line, he wants to be a doctor.I further asked him that he could be a nurse. He said… “ mommy, don’t you know that boy has to be a Doctor and girl a Nurse…” See that – his cute perception of doctors and nurses at 6 years old. He has always wanted to be an architect….3 weeks of time with a girl has influence my 3 years of teachings…. hmmmm….. boys oh boys……

I do not wish them to be doctors…… talking about doctors…. I will be rather busy with my Mediplex , ie hospital cum medical centers cum hotel, project end of the year. Thus, I have to spend more time with the kiddos before my project goes full-swing. I may have to stop all their Saturday classes and bring them to the park, botanic gardens, zoo, bird park, Sentosa , science center….etc….. on Saturday morning.

Hubby is always busy with his work, even on weekends, so the onus lies with me to bring the kiddos to these places. Sunday morning is reserve for their Sunday school. So, the only choice is on Sat. Me being a very ‘kiasu’ mom, has to make a decision to stop their Sat morning enrichment classes……


Sean and his Yaya. Yaya saw him doing his math homework... she asked Sean: "Why are you so slow..do faster.." Her math is also fantastic. After homework, all to Mc Donald's again.........
