Finally...

...Sean is able to blow bubbles in the water...yay..

Have to blog this… Sean finally knew the blow bubbles technique. This is his 2nd swimming lesson with coach Li. In his 1st lesson, Sean was rather apprehensive and cannot get the hang of blowing bubbles. I suppose he cannot co-ordinate his mouth and nose breathing while blowing bubbles. His two previous swimming coaches tried to teach him but to no avail. I also taught him before, but he just cannot do it.

CSC coaches train potential national swimmers…. so they are really very stern and fierce. In the group lessons, the swimmers are expected to swim or kick water almost every minute. No idling time. I did not expect it to be so tough in private class too.

Last Saturday, coach Li scolded Sean for not being able to blow bubbles. That was his 2nd lesson with him only. While talking to Yuen Yuen, I heard sniffing sound in the quiet pool; by the way…. only Sean and Faith with coach Li in the entire pool …on closer look, … OMG…. it was actually Sean crying. I was caught by surprised and assured him that he is doing well. He told me he does not like swimming lessons anymore! To entice him to continue swimming, we negotiated his Wii gaming terms….. ie, he gets to play 2 hours of Wii game after his swimming training….

After our conversation and my assurance, Sean reluctantly continued his swimming lesson. I left the pool side so that coach Li could teach Sean without my watchful eyes. I was told by Yuen Yuen that coach Li was fierce and Sean cried in his entire one and the half hours swimming lessons. There was no idling time for him, he was expected to kick water on a U float most of the time. In fact, I watched him from the 2nd storey reading room.

After the swimming lesson, with swollen red eyes, he walked to me and told me :
“mommy, I can blow bubbles already.” He was so proud of himself and demonstrated to all of us. Coach Li told me that he has to assert some pressure on Sean and pushes him a little harder.

Not end of story yet…. he played too much Wii game – till 11pm… He never manages to complete his school homework. In fact, he has not even started on his weekend reader, creative writing and Chinese homework yet. Will do it tonight and hand them in tomorrow.
