On Mon, Sean told me that he has to bring sausage bread to his school garden picnic. Teacher Millie told me earlier that Sean is able to relay message very well…. So I do not doubt him. I asked Teacher Millie the following day…. Yes, Sean has volunteered to bring sausage bread… it is volunteered and not has to bring…..I do not want to disappoint him so I agreed to bake the sausage and cheese bread for all the kids and teachers.
I have not make bread for a very long time….. cos’ I practically have no time….. I cancelled my plans to attend an architectural seminar and zoomed down to the bread-making once I reached home.
The boys are very helpful. Sean prepared the recipes. Shayne help in sorting out the ingredients….I taught them the function of each ingredient. Sean understand. As for Shayne… he may know yeast but may not know it is for proofing…. Anyway as long as he has fun… who bothers huh? Children love to have fun baking. Who wants to attend baking class at our place????? All children are allowed. I am wondering if I could transform our back kitchen to semi-commercial type….. will talk to the kitchen equipment specialist and work out some cost.
We started at about 7pm and completed all the bread , including the packaging, at slightly passed mid-night. Upon completion, I reminded Sean to ask my permission prior to his next ‘volunteer”. As for our little Sara, she sleep at 12.30am cos’ mummy is so busy making bread. She keeps going to the aluminium-foil wrapped tray and said “bred bred” before going to bed.
Some pictorial sequence of their bread-making......

Dough shaping
Shayne is frowning... he is trying very hard to get the dough to form a small ball.
Sean is trying his best.

Dough weighing
Shayne is trying to figure out how to operate the weighing scale.

Egg washing
Sean kept running to the kitchen to see if the bread is ready for egg wash. To be honest... Sean is really good in his egg wash. The right pressure was applied to each dough. While doing his egg wash, he told me this..." lucky you got a son to do egg wash for you, if not you'll be so busy." So sweet huh?

Ready to go into the oven.

Sean helped to count the bread.

Ta da.... done. All arranged to be sent to school the following day.
The aroma of the freshly baked bread.... can you smell it???? Lovely.
Sent the bread to school today and managed to capture two shots of the pre-picnic scene.
